Welcome Statement

We are a small, friendly, inclusive Church, mainly serving the Local Community. The Congregation meets twice a week for services in our beautifully appointed but contemporary Church.  We feel strongly that everyone should be given the warmest welcome and believe that God's Kingdom is open to all, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation or marital status.  Our aim is to try our best to apply our faith to our everyday life.

Verse of The Day

“Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

White and Gold
I’ve never quite understood how the colours of vestments and alter change through the Church's year and have been meaning to some private study on this for some years. Well I’ve just been presented with a few minutes and think I understand. So for anyone else who is equally baffled, let me explain.

The Church uses four colours to show changes through the festivals of the Christian Year; Green, White, Red and Purple. These colours appear on alter frontal (of our high alter) and on the vestments worn by the priest.

Churches Together
During the two weeks 14th - 28th September 2008, Churches Together in Bishop's Stortford are organising a community festival entitled Shine.

Some time ago the ministers of our local churches meeting at one of their annual retreats were discusing the place of the Church in our community. They made the observation that whilst the Church is at the heart of the local community, we are not always perceived in that way. We know the importance of church life in our community and we believe that we are called to be salt and light in the world so we believe in having an influence on society. They decided that we needed to do some things to raised our profile and point people to what we are already doing; and we needed to do this in a form that is clearly seen to be giving something to the community.

Mouse
Hello again, so sorry not to have been in touch recently , but I have just returned from my holiday at Woburn Wildlife Park. Prior to going away, I sat in at the vicarage to listen to the PCC.meeting, hoping to pick up some gossip for my friend, the Bat in the Belfry. Much of the proceedings seemed like boring business to me. However, towards the end of the evening, I suddenly heard Fr.John announce that he had a pair of handcuffs upstairs!!Well, as you can imagine, the more rowdy members of the PCC.fell about laughing and almost drowned out poor Fr.John's explanation, that they were part of his police officer's equipment for his position in the police force.

Oh well, that's another piece of gossip thwarted. But I must say that my PCC.meetings are at least a constant source of fun and laughter, as well as times for church business to be conducted. Most of the other church mice I know are quite envious of my position at Holy Trinity. They keep asking me when I intend to move on, so that they can apply for my post!

Rabbits
Well, we finally wore him down and, with much trepidation and many misgivings, Fr. John finally relented and agreed to hold a Pet Service.

It was the first for many years and we were delighted to see the Church full of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and even a gecko.

And what a service they and their owners were treated to!

Brainiest People
On Saturday 28th.June some opf the brainiest people in Bishop's Stortford gathered together for a Quiz Night.Unfortunately, none came to us at Holy Trinity, to mount a challenge to the St.James, Thorley team, led  by John Wrentmore. Their "luck" held out once again, and they retained the trophy they have won at the last two quiz Nights!. Their score of 87 beat off the opposition's next best efforts of 79 and 74 respectively. On a more serious note, our congratulations go to them.
